You’d know that voice anywhere The voice of Jimmy Neutron has been singing as long as Debi Derryberry can remember. Writing her first song on her first guitar at age 9, Debi grew up to speak and sing her way to voiceover stardom, creating voices for dozens of well-known characters like the Disney Channel’s Playhouse Disney host Clay, Weenie the dog and baby butterfly Catrina in the Nick Jr. series Oswald the Octopus, and Ryo-Ohki in the animé series Tenchi Muyo! At the same time, Debi sang for six years with the all-girl country band Honey Pig.
Now with her first solo release, the rollicking children’s CD What A Way To Play! Debi has woven together the strands of her career into a set of fresh sounds for hip kids. She performs solo with a backing track or as a trio.
The Children’s Music Web Awards honored Debi with a “Best New Artist for Preschoolers” in 2006 and Mr. Dad Seal of Approval named What a Way to Play! a 2006 holiday winner. Five songs from her album made the Top 40 in Sirius Satellite Radio’s KidStuff chart including the No. 1 spot for her original song, Baby Banana.
Children and parents thrill to see that the performer behind the voice of their favorite animated characters is every bit as colorful and fun as those fantastical creations with whom they have fallen in love while at the movies and on TV. Her multifaceted roles include Nergel Jr. on the Cartoon Network’s Billy and Mandy, Curious George’s best friend Gnocchi, the title role in Zatch Bell, and roles in Bobby’s World and Jumanji as well as feature film appearances in Ice Age 2, Disney’s Lady and the Tramp II, Ghost World and Mark Hamill’s Comic Book: The Movie.
