"Once upon a time, Elvis brought out the screaming fans,
and then there were the Beatles. These days there's Laurie Berkner." -
Good Morning America, August 2006.
Children's music phenomenon Laurie Berkner turned her experience
as a preschool music specialist by day and rock singer by night into
a career as one of the biggest names in family music. Laurie's intelligent,
accessible songwriting, warm, captivating vocals and infectious melodies
stand out among other children's entertainment and have won legions
of little fans as well as their parents.
Over the past several years, The Laurie Berkner Band has garnered
rave reviews from the press, made appearances on the Today Show,
Good Morning America, Live with Regis & Kelly and enjoyed
huge CD/DVD sales. The band's DVD debuted in 2006 at NO. 1 on Billboard's
Top Music Video chart, and is nearing quadruple platinum status.
The Laurie Berkner Band appears in nearly every episode of Jack's
Big Music Show on the Noggin TV channel (Nickelodeon's commercial-free,
educational network for preschoolers), as well as in music videos
between programming.
The Laurie Berkner Band's albums have received rave reviews in publications
ranging from People to Time magazines and won multiple
awards including an N.A.P.P.A. Gold Award and a Parents' Choice Silver
Honor Award. The band enjoys a strong touring base, with sold-out
shows across the country. The Washington Post took note
of the band's popularity in concert: "Jimmy Buffett has his
Parrotheads. The Grateful Dead have their legendary Deadheads. Laurie
Berkner has, um, Dino-heads? Or as one parent described herself and
other fanatics, 'Laurie heads.'"
