Secret Agent 23 Skidoo

Plenty of artists have taken a stab at "kid-hop" before, but not one has produced such an unqualified success. This is real hip-hop, with thumping funk grooves that wouldn't seem out of place on adult radio and the kind of playful rhymes that came from Will Smith back in his Fresh Prince days (so it's accessible even to those who may not consider themselves rap fans). The lyrics are pure kid stuff—the songs radiate positivity, promoting self-esteem and curiosity via stories about dragons and mermaids—but it's all so masterfully delivered that it doesn't feel the least bit corny. After a decade of touring the country as a rapper/producer in a positive hip hop live band and sharing the stage with the likes of RUN-DMC, KRS-1, MOS DEF and P-FUNK, and half a decade of being a father, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo realized a series of needs. Parents who loved hip-hop needed a positive way to share it with their kids. Kids needed great beats and lyrics to make them dance and smile. Hip-hop needed a representative who understood how kids thought, and wouldn't dumb it down. And 23 Skidoo needed to fill those shoes.

By combining classic drum beats with the talents of live musicians from his hometown of Asheville, NC, 23 Skidoo mixed funk, reggae and bluegrass into a fresh and danceable hip hop landscape, then filled it with stories kids love to hear. Whether rapping about robots and aliens and the last dragon left on earth, or rousing the crowd with back and forth choruses, or lifting the esteem of children by reminding them to be themselves and have fun, 23 Skidoo's new breed of kids music is a qualified hit!

After reaching #1 on XMKids, #1 on Kids Korner Radio, and the #1 Kids Music Debut on About.com all in the first year of its existence, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo and his Kid Hop are going places ...hopefully to a venue near you!

Secret Agent 23 Skidoo performs in traditional rapper and DJ format, with the addition of 1-3 singers and dancers, and sometimes along with his 7-year-old daughter who raps like she was born doing it!

"He might sound like a colleague of Maxwell Smart, but this pop artist is actually closer to Kanye West..." -New York Times

"Easy is one of the most refreshing and sophisticated kid's albums I've heard in a long while. 23 Skidoo employs a cup of hip-hop, a dash of Americana, and loads of great songwriting--all the while without taking kids for granted." -Robbie Schaefer, Music Director, XMKiDS, XM Satellite Radio

"The list of really good kids' hip-hop albums is very short. Not only does Easy go to the top of that list, it should find a lot of fans among people who don't consider themselves big hip-hop fans. It's a really good CD, period -- lots of fun and certainly worthy of repeated spins. Definitely recommended." -Zoogobble.com
